We urge you to attend and speak up. Below are some talking points (attached slide show from last week helps explain changes to the Shoreline Master Program) and meeting information found below and in attached agenda.

Talking Points and ACTIONS STILL NEEDED by the county:

1) Include all Conservancy Shoreline Designations in these amendments.

2) Include all shoreline modifications not just piers and docks.

3) Keep the current net pens prohibition in place to the south and west of Tacoma Narrows Bridge and any marine designated aquatic reserve.

4) Protect eelgrass areas by maintaining buffers and not allowing removal of eelgrass beds.

5) Place a moratorium on all dock, pier and bulkhead construction until the inventory is completed.

6) Complete shoreline inventory.

7) Conduct a carrying capacity analysis for shoreline alterations to use as a role model.

The above actions could help bring sound science and quality data to policy, regulation and permitting decisions.
